Hello. I’m Kathy. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and giving me a chance to introduce myself. I know that you are in the midst of making a very difficult decision and I admire your love and courage in considering adoption.

I have always dreamed of having a child. I am very excited about loving and raising a child through adoption. Much of my experience thus far has been with my four nephews and niece. I have shared their lives from their births through many magical moments of playing games, reading stories, helping with their homework, or just listening to them talk about their day, not to mention the early days of runny noses and dirty diapers.
I live in the San Francisco Bay area in a lovely, sun filled home in a nice neighborhood on a quiet, ethnically diverse street with lots of kids. To my pleasant surprise, there are other families on my street who have adopted. I love the sense of community here with kids out playing, neighbors stopping to say hello and the annual summer block party.

I grew up in the San Francisco area, the youngest of four kids. We are very close, spend a lot of time together and they are all excited and supportive of my dream to raise a child. Our large extended family makes for boisterous holiday gatherings. And I often spend my Sunday evenings at my sister’s, sitting in her kitchen talking and laughing with her husband and their three kids. One reason I bought my house is because the kitchen reminded me of theirs and the many happy times we have spent in it as a family.

I am a warm, caring, and financially secure woman who values my family and friends. I enjoy gardening, reading, hanging out with my cat, entertaining friends and family, hiking, and snow skiing. In the summer, I enjoy spending time with my family at our cabin on a small lake in the California Sierras, where my father went as a boy. Summers at the lake have been a family tradition all of my life and I dream of sharing this special place with my child. I have also had the opportunity to travel to Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America and enjoy the diverse cultures, food, and natural beauty. I speak some Spanish and hope to give my child an appreciation for the world around them.
My background is in marketing and I have a great job supporting my company’s philanthropy and socio-economic development programs. I have worked for the same company for over 12 years. It is a family friendly environment with flexible work hours, the option to work from home, several months of parental leave, and onsite childcare.

As an adoptive parent I will raise your child with unconditional love in a nurturing home full of warmth and laughter, the support of friends and family, and a clear understanding of their cultural identity and adoption story. I am fully supportive of an open adoption if you wish to stay in contact and become part of your child’s extended family.
