Roxanne and Scot

Hi, we are Roxanne and Scot and we are very excited and thankful to you for taking the time to read this letter. The strength, courage and love that you are showing just by considering adoption, during this difficult time for you is something we both admire. Please read on knowing that it is our hope and sincerest wish to provide a loving and stable home for your child, who will always know that your decision to adopt was made out of love.

A friend introduced us to each other seventeen years ago. We were married on Stinston Beach in California surrounded by ocean waves, friends, family, and a beautiful sunset. Our son Eben was born in 2003 and we’ve been wanting to add another child to our family ever since.

Our situation for raising children could not be better. We work together in our retail store located in San Francisco, which sells office supplies, gifts, jewelry, toys and baby clothes. We live right above our shop which is situated near good schools and within walking distance to many child-friendly parks including Golden Gate Park, a number of beaches, and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Roxanne is talented in so many ways. In addition to being a loving mother, wife and excellent cook, she has a cosmetology license and two college degrees; one in Social Science and the other in Art. She uses her art skills as a volunteer at Eben’s school and at work with her elaborate window displays. Roxanne is a sound business woman and has kept the family enterprise successful since her father passed away in 1989. She trained as a ballerina for a number of years but now dances for fun. Roxanne is never too busy to help those in need, she has been known to rescue all types of animals; from birds, cats, dogs, to even fish. Her energy never wanes and she always has time for friends.

Scot is a High School teacher who took a year off to help raise Eben, and loves being a Dad so much that he also works at the store which allows him more time to be with Roxanne and Eben. He has not strayed too far from teaching; working as a volunteer at Eben’s elementary school. He is passionate about music and plays the guitar. He also loves to swim in the ocean, snowboard, read, exercise, fix things and make people laugh.

Eben is an amazing child, who is kindhearted and cannot wait to be a big brother. He enjoys reading, painting, drawing and riding his bicycle, but his favorite activity is playing dress up. We never really know who’s going to come out of his room: a cowboy, a pirate, Batman, sometimes he’s Darth Vader, and sometimes he’s Luke Skywalker. He loves to pretend and has a great imagination. Eben even helps out at the store as a buyer, he thumbs through the toy catalogs and tells us which ones to order. His selections are always a hit with the local kids.

Adopted children are loved by both the birth parents and adoptive parents and we feel it is important for our child to know this. The more open the relationship between all parties, the better it is to raise a healthy and well-adjusted child. We embrace this relationship and are eager and willing to do anything we feel that would be in the best interest of our child and the birth parents.

That’s us in a nutshell. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this letter. If you would like to get to know us better please feel free to call toll free, day or night at 1-877-452-8871. Or you can speak with one of our adoption counselors, Lynne Jacobs or Lisa Clark, 24 hours a day at 1-800-969-6665. They’re very easy to talk to. We wish you the very best in whatever decision you make for you and your baby.
