Anne Marie and Richard
(877) 792-8170

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us. We can only imagine what you’re going through right now as you make this difficult, but important, decision for both you and your baby. Whatever decision you make will be the right choice, because it comes from love.

We are Anne Marie and Richard. We met each other five years ago and quickly fell in love. We have been married for more than three years, and it has been the best time of our lives. We waited a long time to find each other, but it was worth the wait! Although we were unable to have children due to infertility, children have always been an important part of our lives. Between us, we have 10 nieces and nephews ranging in age from 19 to less than a year old. Anne Marie’s sister had a baby girl in April 2009. We visited her when she was just a few weeks old for “baby boot camp,” where we had “on-the-job training” in changing diapers and clothes, giving baths, and other aspects of infant care. Anne Marie’s sister says we’re naturals! We also have many good friends with children to whom we are honorary aunt and uncle.

We live in Oakland, California, in an ethnically diverse neighborhood, near a lake surrounded by beautiful trees. We enjoy museums, parks, beaches, going to the local farmer’s market, restaurants, getting together with friends and going on day trips. Often, we just stay home together and watch a movie, read books, cook, or spend time playing with our cat, Keiki. We also love to travel. Since we met, we have gone to many places around California, the U.S. and abroad. We visit family in Ohio, New York or Virginia at least once a year.

Anne Marie is a very caring, intelligent woman, and a nurturing and loyal friend. She will make a great mother because she has a lot of love to give. She is also creative and likes decorating our home and taking care of our plants. Anne Marie works for a non-profit organization in San Francisco that does international development work throughout Asia. She has a background in cross-cultural communication and enjoys interacting with people of different ethnic backgrounds.

Richard is a kind and generous person with a strong sense of justice and moral integrity. He also has a joyful, playful side, and can always find the humor in any situation. He’s great at interacting with kids, appealing to their “silly” side, and will make a wonderful dad. Richard works as a paralegal at a small law firm in San Francisco. He loves baseball, history, and science fiction.

We were both lucky to be raised in loving, supportive, stable families with whom we are still very close. Our parents had high expectations for us to do well in school and taught us to treat other people with respect. They were firm, but also gave us the freedom to be ourselves, even letting us make mistakes sometimes. We intend to do the same with our child.
We believe in the value of an open adoption for everyone concerned. We promise that you will always have a special place in our family. Our child will always know his or her adoption story and heritage.

If you believe we might be the right family for your child, please contact us anytime (24/7) at (877) 792-8170. You may also call our adoption counselors, Lynne Jacobs and Lisa Clark, at (800) 969-6665. Thank you. We can’t wait to meet you!
