What We've Been Up To
Adoption Movie Night
Recently our staff attended an amazing conference, attended by adoptees, adoptive parents and adoptive professionals alike. The main feature of the day was the film, "Adopted" by Barb Lee. It provoked such thoughtful, emotionally-charged and relevant discussion that we were inspired to give you the opportunity to share in the experience. Adopt International will periodically be hosting movie nights to share the film with the community. We highly recommend it! To hear more about the film read the following blurb or visit www.adoptedthemovie.com. "ADOPTED reveals the grit rather than the glamour of transracial adoption. We go deep into the intimate lives of two well-meaning families and reveal the challenges of identity, attachemnt, and grief. One family is just beginning the process of adopting a baby from China and is filled with hope and possibility. The other family's adopted Korean daughter is now 32 yars ld. Prompted by her adoptive mother's terminal illness, she tries to create the bond with her family she's never had. The results are unpredictable and rivteting. While the two families are at opposite ends of life's journey, they share a common less: love, alone, isn't enough to make a family work." Please call to inquire about the next showing. (approx. 80 minutes long). The fee is $10 per couple. Popcorn included!
