What We've Been Up To

Hague

You saw the mess at the office as we cleaned and prepared and heard the fear in our voices. After months of working late, compiling manuals, writing new policies and procedures, and eating way too much take out we survived our three days of evaluations last October. We will be forever grateful to the families that participated in being interviewed, sent well wishes and encouragement, and were just patient as we took the time to prepare. And of course also a big special thank you to our Board of Directors that was attentive, supportive, helpful, and gracious through the entire process. We have always been an A+ staff of over achievers and our approach to this process was no different. It was a team building time that paid off in the end. Each of us now like to brag that our "section" was perfect.

We are now ready. Adopt International was accredited by the Council on Accreditation in 1997, again in 2003, and now we have completed our Hague accreditation process. The agencies will be notified all at the same time in mid April. We are confident in our position.

Adopt International has continued to be a leader in the world of adoption, both international and domestic. Adoptions between Hague approved countries from the United States comes into effect on April 15, 2008. Educational requirements are established by The Secretary of State, who is our central authority. It will be wonderful for families to have more training in what to expect in international adoptions and how best to help children coming from institutional settings. There are lots of benefits that come with this new world of adoptions, even though it may seem more difficult. We are here to help you through the requirements and help you build your family. Our great staff is available to assist families with their preparation, home > studies with educational components, dossiers that meet Hague requirements, and travel planning to best meet your needs.
