Aloha! We are Duncan and Annika. We are very excited and thankful to you for taking the time to read this letter. The strength, courage, and love that you are showing just by considering adoption during this difficult time is something we both admire. We met in college at the University of Hawaii, on the island of Oahu, and instantly fell in love. We were married on a sparkling, white sand beach in Fiji with the sun setting behind us into the ocean. Over the past twelve years, our marriage has become a union of mutual respect, cherished love, and open communication.

We are excited for the day we will be able to adopt a child and fulfill our dreams of being parents. After experiencing five years of infertility, we have had a lot of time to discuss our parenting values and our hopes for our family. We look forward to taking our child to the beach, reading a bedtime story, and discovering life together. Since we come from loving and supportive families, our families embrace adoption and they are extremely excited about adding a new member to our family.

We live in tropical Kaneohe, on the Windward side of the island of Oahu. We are only five minutes from the beach and state parks. Our multicultural neighborhood is friendly and safe with lots of young families nearby. Our home is also only minutes away from a top-rated elementary school.

Annika works in advertising. She has been with her current company for over five years. Annika is a very loving, nurturing person. She enjoys volunteering at an animal shelter in our neighborhood. Annika has been known to rescue all types of stray animals from birds to cats. In her free time, Annika adores running and spending time outdoors. Annika likes helping one of her closest friends with her 11-month old twins. She looks forward to being a loving, supportive Mom who helps with her child’s art projects and cheers at their sports matches.

Duncan has had a passion for the culinary arts his whole life. He is a former Executive Chef who is now a Kitchen Manager in a nursing home for the elderly. Duncan gets satisfaction from knowing that he is taking excellent care of the residents. His hobbies include playing soccer, walking on the beach and camping. He loves crossword puzzles and Scrabble too. Duncan is a natural teacher and he is eager to be a patient, compassionate and loving mentor to our future child.

We look forward to seeing the expressions on our child’s face as he/she discovers the many joys that life has to offer. As parents, we will be there every step of the way through the journey of life. We promise to provide a home full of laughter, positive encouragement, and unconditional love.
